Damn The Internet, Anyway!

Sorry everyone. My site was down due to a horrid slew of coincidences that rendered Csoft useless. Apparently they host on some servers in a coloc which doesn’t know linux. Thus, when they wanted to fix some broken libraries on their machine, they had to walk the techs through the fixes via a long-distance phone call.

See, this is why you don’t colocate your servers farther away than you’re willing to drive. Where I work, we never assume the techs there have any ability beyond that of warm mayonnaise. Thus, when something breaks, we have to go fix it ourselves.

But you know what? Even when we had a switch go nuts, our site was never down for longer than 4 hours. Yeesh.
